• "Lou, from the start, made us feel like we had a loving and fierce advocate by our sides through this intense and scary journey. She gave us emotional and physical support and taught us how to do the same for each other. With every question or fear we had, she gave us gentle but confident solutions which made us feel more secure every step of the way. Beyond the birth work, I feel we have walked away with a true friend. We love Lou!"

  • "During pregnancy, I knew I wanted to work with a birth doula. I didn’t want my husband making decisions on my behalf about my body — not because he wouldn’t do his best, but because I knew how deeply he loves me and how emotionally intense the delivery would be for him too. I met Lou serendipitously, and from the beginning, I had a sense that our paths would cross again. I’m so grateful they did. In our prenatal sessions, Lou was attentive and thoughtful. Her intake process was thorough, and every time I brought something up — from physical symptoms to birth preferences — she’d follow up with evidence-based resources tailored to me. It was clear she had studied my responses and came prepared to advocate for the birth experience I hoped for. When delivery day came, Lou was everything I needed in that room. She coached me through every moment — gently reminding me to rest, eat, and breathe when I needed to. She helped me relax through gentle aromatherapy and massage, and got me into positions using a birthing ball that helped baby be optimally positioned for birth. She translated medical jargon, clearly explained procedures, and advocated for my voice to be heard when it mattered most. And just as importantly, she created space for my husband to show up as the partner he wanted to be, without the pressure of being everything at once. She met me with empathy, never judged or dismissed my experience, and made sure I never felt like I was “too much” — physically or emotionally. She also somehow captured the most incredible birth photos that I will treasure for the rest of my life. After this experience I will always encourage having a doula in the delivery room with you and recommend this to anyone. If you're looking for someone who will sit beside you — truly on your side of the delivery bed — look no further than Lou."

  • "I hadn't planned to get a doula for our second pregnancy because I felt like I already knew what to expect and would be okay without the extra support. However, when I found out my insurance included this service, I jumped at the chance and I'm so glad I did. I chose Lou because I vibed with her energy and trusted her, and she was willing to personalize services to our needs. We had a few prenatal sessions and then she came over at 2am to support my labor at home, and then stuck with us through labor and delivery at the hospital. I'm so grateful to have had her with me at the hospital, especially because my son went into the NICU and so I was alone and so raw after a long labor/delivery. She stuck with me and gave me the emotional support I needed. She also came by for a few postpartum visits and helped me feel competent, cared for, and supported. I loved having Lou in my corner and would highly recommend her to anyone!"

  • "Lou supported me with the birth and delivery of my daughter. She was extremely helpful and literally an angel. She checked in on me frequently before and after the birth. Lou provided outstanding support mentally and physically. I had a difficult labor due to having been induced as I had low water and restrictive growth and Lou provided assistance every step of the way. My labor lasted 2 days and Lou brought such a calming energy, always keeping me motivated, and although I was in distress mentally and physically, her presence was a breath of fresh air. She taught me breathing techniques as well as exercises that helped induce labor. She encouraged me to make the best decisions for me and my baby and provided me with an in depth explanation of what my options were, advocating for my needs at all times with hospital personnel. I am eternally grateful for having had Lou present during one of the most important moments of my life, she is truly a caring and genuine soul."

  • "Hiring Lou was a wonderful decision. With humor, openness, warmth, and knowledge, Lou guided my husband and I through making choices about our baby's birth and supported us through labor and postpartum. In the days before I went into labor, having Lou to call and text as I tried to figure out what my body was doing and how to best physically and emotionally prepare for labor was extremely helpful. She gave me suggestions for activities for my body, but also listened to my anxiety and helped me feel more patient about it all. When I went into labor, I was so relieved to have Lou to call. It was the middle of the night, but she answered on the first ring and sat with me on the phone through some rough contractions. When I decided I had had enough and needed to go to the hospital, she was completely supportive. I was working with some excellent midwives, but I did feel that they were not taking seriously my dehydration (I was unable to keep any liquids down) and were pushing for me to stay home longer. Having Lou in my corner to say that I should go if I feel I need to go was centering. When I got to the pushing stage, Lou guided me to push on my side, cooled me down with a cold compress, and gave me helpful visualizations. She also gently advocated for me to wait to push until I was fully feeling the urge - and I'm glad I waited because I pushed for less than 15 minutes!"

  • "Without Lou my labor experience without a doubt would’ve gone sideways. Her presence allowed me to be calm. Her expertise in reading monitors, asking the right questions, reminding me of my patient rights, and knowledge of positions allowed me to remain strong and achieve my wish of a birth canal delivery (even after induction). My labor was extremely long and difficult; my partner could not do all that needed to be done. Lou stepped up to help both of us during the most important time in our family’s life. I recommend her to my pregnant friends and am grateful she was present for my labor and delivery."
